TOP FORTY SHIPS

#20; booth/brennan, bones

Oh man. They used to be one of my top OTPs. And then everything after this scene above happened. This scene was perfection, but after that, they should've dissolved it quickly and got them together finally. I just want to slap the writers so much. There's no such thing as a Moonlighting curse. Or if there is, it's not what they think it is, but instead, it's what happens when you're too afraid to get your two main characters into a relationship. Rage rage rage. Everything up to this episode was so organic, such a natural progression, at least if you consider the two characters. BUT THEN THIS. And now the stupid thing they pushed them into without even showing us and I don't know, I just feel very betrayed as a shipper. Whatever, I only watch the show these days for the family aspect. Cam! Angela! Hodgins! They're adorbs. And don't even get me started on Zach. Sobbbbb.

#19; magnus/tesla, sanctuary

Magnus/Tesla. My FUN Sanctuary ship! I love their banter, Tesla's obvious interest, and how long they've known each other. I'm always a sucker for history / backstory, and these two clearly have all the tension, but in a good way. Tesla knows exactly how to push her buttons, and she loves it, even if she'd never admit to it. I'm not sure how I feel about the most recent developments yet, but if we do get a fifth season, I'll figure it all out. I just, oh man. This scene here? And the entire episode, basically? I love that she's so sad he no longer has his powers and probably also won't live as long anymore, and that she actually makes an effort to 'revamp' him. Ahhh. Though I don't think I actually want them togethertogether. What I do want is for them to hook up once every couple of years, and just be their ridiculous, bickering selves. Plus, I still want my other Sanctuary ship to happen.

#18; daniel/vala, stargate

Ohhhboy. Let me talk about that one scene here, the one from Unending. I could write entire dissertations on that scene. I just. With Daniel trying to protect himself from being hurt again by lashing out, which is so out of character for him, usually, but this is Vala and she's not normal. And yet, she is, in a way, because his lashing out hurts her more than either of them expected. And I love that moment when he finally realises he's gone too far, that this isn't just another flirty moment for Vala. At least not exclusively. And aside from that time where she's being burned to death, I don't think we've ever seen Vala this vulnerable, have we? (Stop being so bloody gorgeous, Claudia Black! Except, don't ever stop.) And then everything after this scene that happens in this episode! ALL THE FEELINGS. And I know a lot of people hate the resolution of the episode, but I don't. It's Stargate, they always do that! It's part of the charm. Or so I'm told. But really, I think it's perfect. And if it happens once, it can happen again.

#17; susan/marcus, babylon 5

This would be the other B5 ship I talked about earlier, the one that is part of the reason why Susan/Talia is so far down the list. I don't have too much to say about them, but my favourite part is how much Marcus loves Susan. Probably more than anyone has ever loved her, and uuuuugh, my heart. They're both warriors, and they go so, so well together. And he can make her laugh, even when she doesn't want to. Ahhh. If only Susan wasn't so afraid. :( I'll just be... over here, reading AUs / fix-it fics forever and picking up the pieces of my heart.

#16; daniel/elizabeth, stargate

Now, I know what you're thinking. They only had like, one episode together, and a few more scenes two years later. But. BUT. They would be perfect together. They're basically the same person, with the same interests and strenghts. Sure, that might backfire, but at least for a while, it would be the best. They could geek out over linguistics together, trace the entire history of the galaxy, and talk dirty to each other in two dozen languages. (Which is actually a fic I've written.) They'd be super playful ('Yu?' - 'Don't. Every joke, every pun... Done to death.') and hilarious and my god, I want them together so badly.

#15; cal/gillian, lie to me

First of all, kicking and screaming at network arseholes who pulled that show before the season even ended. And right when Cal admitted he loved Gill, too! And now that that's out of the way... These two! Are so fucked up, but together, they make it work somehow. Well, most of the time anyway. I stopped liking the show long before they cancelled it, but I would've kept watching it for all eternity, just for these two and their scenes together. Take this one, for example, from Delinquent. It's my absolute favourite moment (even more so than the kiss—blasphemy, I know) because it's only when Gillian is hurt that Cal lets himself show the feelings he has for her. He's so worried about her, and he just wants to make it all better. And I think she really feels safe with him there, at least in this bit. Iiii will shut up now. Except to curse the network a little more.

#14; sheppard/weir, stargate atlantis

Ugly crying. I'm not in the fandom anymore, there was too much bile and hostility. I mean, on one side are the Sheppard/McKay slahers that hate Elizbeth, and on the other side are the Elizabeth fans that hate Sam Carter for swooping in in season four. And just... no thankyou. But not to be a Debbie Downer, let's move on. John and Elizabeth are just absolutely delightful together. I wish we'd seen a little more of Elizabeth letting her hair down in general, which is why most of my headcanon is actually based on fanfic, but even the scenes that they did have together that weren't 100% work-related were fantastic. This little scene right here, for example, where he gives her a birthday present. Awwwwwww. Or the scene the quote is from, where he defends her honour in front of Woolsey. MY BABIES. Sob sob.

#13; jenny/gibbs, ncis

Oh, the history! Paris! Paaaaris! I love that they're actually canon. Like, we even got flashbacks, we don't have to guess, we don't just get vague allusions. No, they kissed, they fucked, they were a thing back in Paris. Even if it was just for a job. Because we all know it wasn't just for a job. And I know a lot of Kate/Gibbs shippers hate Jenny, but I don't even give a damn. Jenny is a fantastic, layered character, and I'm still bitter at the stunt they pulled with her character. It was completely unnecessary. But I refuse to accept it as canon. They'll always have Paris, sob.

#12; clarice/amanda, caprica

Clarice/Amanda! Yes, Clarice is a goddamn terrorist. And yes, Amanda is still mourning for her daughter. BUT MY GOD THEY ARE THE BEST. And I ship them so much and just want them to be in that cabin forever. (Plus, POLLY FUCKING WALKER.) Of course a lot of what they have is manipulation, though I think it shifts for both of them. When they start out, Clarice is manipulating Amanda to find out more about the Zoe avatar, but she eventually really does start loving Amanda. But of course that's when Amanda finds out who Clarice is and what she does, and that's when her feelings shift and she starts manipulating Clarice to bring her down. Oh god. Be more complex, ship, I dare you. I'm convinced there's some alternate reality, though, where they actually talk and Amanda convinces Clarice to never leave the cabin. Orrrr one where they meet again a few years after the end of the series and forgive each other.

#11; chandler/monica, friends

My Friends OTP! I shipped them long before I even knew what shipping was. Long before I discovered the internet, let alone fanfic. I honestly don't know how many times I watched this scene above, and the proposal. I love the evolution of their relationship. They're friends first, have been for ages, aside from that incident back when they first met (ahahahaha), and the only sleep together because of some stupid coincidence, more or less. But they can't get enough of each other after that, and my god. I'm so glad they don't have that annoying on-and-off relationship that Ross and Rachel have, but instead they just love each other and that's it. Except, that's not it, there's so much more. They complement each other perfectly, and even when they fight, they always make up afterwards. Perfect couple, ohyeah.
